Play Backgammon Online

Create a private room for someone you know, or open a public room and wait in the lobby. The host chooses White or Black, and the player who joins takes the other side. White moves first. Once both seats are filled, later visitors enter as spectators.

Create a room

Choose a room type, then invite a player with the link or room code.

Room type

A public room appears in the lobby while its second seat is open. This browser may host only one public room at a time.

Join a room

Paste an invitation link or enter a room code. An open seat lets you play; a game already in progress opens in spectator mode.

Leaving does not end the game. The host can return through My rooms or close the room; if both players go offline, it remains available for about 20 minutes. A room code connects this game and does not store personal information.

Play Backgammon Online

If you already have an opponent, create a private room and share the link. If you want to find someone new, open a public room and wait in the lobby. The host chooses White or Black, the first player to join takes the other seat, and later visitors can watch once both seats are filled.

Options to create a public backgammon lobby room or a private invite room

Choose Public or Private

A public room appears in the lobby for the next visitor to join. A private room stays off the list and uses its link as the invitation, so there is no extra password to manage. Anyone with that link can enter, so send it only to the person you want to play.

Reconnect to Your Seat

After the host chooses a colour, the first player to join takes the other seat. Your browser remembers that seat, so a refresh or brief reconnect usually drops you back into the same game. Once both seats are taken, later arrivals watch as spectators.

Leave, Resign, or Close

Returning to the lobby or briefly losing your connection does not end the game. After both players leave, the room usually stays available for about 20 minutes. Rejoin to continue, resign when the game is over, or close the room as host to disable the link. Because online moves are shared, neither player can undo on their own.
